Centenary Remembrance Concert

Centenary Remembrance Concert

Rolls Royce Band and local Community Groups play their part in Centenary Remembrance.

South Normanton Parish Council and The Post Mill Centre would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to watch the Rolls Royce Brass Band at our Centenary Remembrance concert on Sunday 11th November.

The evening proved to be a real success with a great turnout for a fantastic performance of moving and deeply emotional music. This was the finale to the South Normanton's Centenary Remembrance Commemorations and fitting tribute to all those who fought and perished in the First World War and all conflicts since. Councillors Graham Parkin and Ian Garrett specifically thanked the band for their performance and also the organisation Rolls Royce for their contribution to serving the County and Country over the last 100 years.

Earlier in the day South Normanton and District ARC, the local amateur radio group, had sent out morse code messages of remembrance from the Post Mill Centre. Acknowledgements and replies of remembrance were received from all over Europe as South Normanton reached out in its own right to recognise Remembrance. Replies were acknowledged from Cornwall, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Russia and Sweden. Again, the Parish Council and the Post Mill Centre would like to thank all involved in this uplifting achievement.

Finally, but certainly not last the Council would like to thank the following for their contribution to Remembrance day;

The Royal British Legion

All the children who played their part in making the day so successful

All the Community of South Normanton who played their part in supporting the whole day.

Thank you.
