Bolsover District Council - Coronavirus Updates

Playgrounds and Outdoor -
We have put together some practical advice and guidance as we get ready to re-open our playgrounds and outdoor gyms.

Aesthetic Clinics -
When Government Departments recently formulated the upcoming phase of relaxing lockdown, they considered businesses providing beauty/cosmetic treatments and concluded that they should remain closed.

We also understand a Parliamentary Cross-Party Committee has also recently made a similar recommendation. It has been confirmed that 'Beauty Salons' will not be allowed to open on 4 July 2020.'Beauty salon' is not defined in the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 as amended. This matter has been discussed within Derbyshire Trading Standards and we have also taken the views of the wider Trading Standards/Environmental Health community into consideration.

Many colleagues have been approached by aesthetic clinics across the country and the overwhelming opinion is that they fall within the definition of 'beauty salon'. We therefore advise that, in our view, such clinics must remain closed. This is consistent with the advice that other authorities have given to businesses in their areas.

Nevertheless, we understand that the fact that this matter is open to interpretation is not helpful to businesses seeking clarity. We are aware that colleagues have contacted the Government's Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) for guidance on this matter. OPSS have provided guidance for Trading Standards/Environmental Health on the interpretation of the Regulations on other matters throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. There will be further announcements from the Government when they consider that Beauty Salons may open again.

Any Derbyshire based business can obtain advice and information from us. Please complete our business advice request form and we will respond to you: If you complete this form and provide your email address, we will also notify you when we are made aware of any changes in the situation.

Self-isolation lifted for lower risk countries -
Passengers returning or visiting from certain destinations, which pose a reduced risk to the public health of UK citizens, including Spain and Italy, will no longer need to self-isolate when arriving in England. Passengers returning to or visiting England from certain destinations including Germany, France, Spain and Italy, will no longer need to self-isolate on arrival from 10 July 2020. The FCO will set out exemptions for a number of destinations from its global advisory against 'all but essential' international travel, with changes coming into effect on 4 July 2020. In addition, all passengers, except those on a small list of exemptions, will still be required to provide contact information on arrival in the UK. Further guidance will follow.

Employee return-to-work tool -
A tool has been developed to help employees in England easily assess if they can return to work. The tool guides employees through questions that may influence their ability to go back to work safely. Employers can share this tool with employees to aid discussion on how employees can return to work safely.
